Landmarks, home as an activity, explores the shifting idea of
“home” in the time of extensive relocations.

 Started with my personal history of relocations, and dialogues in the
community of Third Culture people, I dived into the detached sense of belonging, detachment from physical houses and interiors, and little sensory things we carry to feel - home. The
project addresses home without a connection to any place or a fixed point, but
as universal activities of re-connecting to home within, and practices of “homing”. Landmarks refer to personal constants kept in memory, reminders of locations and habits. Textile collection, supported by object designs of domestic rituality, with a strong focus on weaving and natural fibre dyes, made with careful selection of color and origins of the materials used and physically connected. Memory of landscapes, plants and fibres from different locations, present the objects as multi-local - like the modern travelers themselves.

Final Master design research project, Inner Weather addresses the linear time system. I wonder about an embodied, personal sense of time that constantly shifts according to outer factors in the environments, and can't be limited to the number-based, invented tradition of timekeeping. I welcome the alternative examples, like the moon and its phases, that presumably influnece the human body cycles, the same way as the other living organisms. And wonder how we can communicate time in new ways. A project was an atmospheric environment in which visitors could watch and listen to stories of 3 women who follow the moon cycles, and could interact with a sensory calendar. 
The sensory calendar shows the cyclical interchange of inner weather states, similar to the lunar phases, and metaphorically translated into scents with a different character.&#38;nbsp;


A space for learning about the (inner) cycles, scent-based calendar.&#38;nbsp;

- Do we ever leave?&#38;nbsp;
fascination with found traces of previous inhabitants, co-dependence and co-development of people and places. For a publication on a topic of the interior, I chose an old part of KABK building, and asked a dancer, another student, to do an improvised movement in a space familar to both of us. 
A result is a free rumination on emotional growth within, love and discomfort, and all the layers which are left - mentally, and with stains, marks, and white wall paint - physically.&#38;nbsp;

		<description>Elina Alekseeva is a Russian-born artist based in the Hague, The Netherlands, whose practice unfolds her interest in the intimate and reciprocal connection between people and their surroundings. The recurring topics of her work is a mythopoetic outlook, and the notion of home in its most broad understanding. This interest comes from curiosity about the position of human beings as a creature between nature and culture, who is permanently in the process of finding a place in the world through actions of relocating, homing; being guided and confused by natural phenomena.
With a background in literature, linguistics and textile design, in her work she looks for an interplay of material study, participatory projects, photography, and installation. Often applying to intuition and personal immersion, she aims to create space for conversations between our bodies and the environment, 
empathy, and imaginative future scenarios.
